Ways For Your Teenager To Make Money Online
If there is one thing almost every teen I come across has in common, it is spending money. Help your teen develop a sense of financial responsibility and give him or her the tools to finance their toys, hobbies, and social life by showing them how they can make money on the Internet. Let's take a look at a few different ways for your teenager to make money online.
Website Or Blog
With prices of domain names and hosting as low as they have gotten in the past few years, you can set your teen up with a website or blog for as little as $20 per year. Write book or video game reviews or create a resource site on a topic of interest. If your daughter is into horseback riding, a site about horse riding equipment, or a particular type of breed may be a great project. If your son is into baseball, he could create a site around his favorite team, or compile tutorials on improving pitching skills.
A Blog may be a great option if you teen isnt interested in designing and maintaining a full-fledged website. A Blog will allow him or her to write articles and reviews on the topic of choice and then publish them to the web at the push of a button. Blogs have come a long way in the last few years and often it is hard to tell what is a full website and what's a blog1
Websites and Blogs can be monetized through affiliate programs and pay per click programs like Google adsense.
Online Tutoring There are plenty of kids out there who could use some tutoring for a particular subject in school. Being able to go to a younger students house isn't always a viable option for your teen. That's where online tutoring comes in. With a computer and an Internet connection your teen can tutor younger students via email, Instant Messenger or even video conferencing. If your teenager has a knack for teaching and does well in school, this may be the perfect business for him or her.
Ebay
EBay is another great way for your teenager to get started making money online. Encourage your teen to start by selling some toys, books and clothes he or she no longer wants. From there, your teen can get a feel for what sells and doesn't sell. Using some of the initial profit, he or she can buy other used items at local consignment shops, flea markets and of course yard sales. Before long your teenager can have a nice little extra stream of income by selling on eBay. Check out our Kids-in-Biz blog for more eBay tips for kids.
Crafts
If you have a crafty teen, get him or her set up with a basic website that allows him or her to sell the crafts online. It can turn a hobby like painting or making cards into a profitable business. Crafty items can also be sold on eBay.
Graphic / Web Design
You'd be surprised how many teens are amazing at both web and graphic design. If your teen is one of them, designing websites for local businesses may be a great way to make some money online. Please check with your local small business administration office to find out if there are any restrictions on teens working as an independent contractor or setting up a home office.
These are just a few ideas to get you thinking about ways to make money online. Browse this site for more ideas about online businesses and of course how to promote and grow them.
